I spend a lot of time complaining. I know this... and I want to change it. We'll see if that happens. So as of late, here is what is happening in my life.
1. I'm a younglife(Wyldlife) leader for middle school boys .
2. I'm working as a Behavioral Health Therapist, with Kids with behavioral issues.
3. I'm making a ton of new friends, and developing a core group.
and that is pretty much it. So now for a little more in depth.
1. I love leading wyldlife. Ton of guys, and I work with two high school students that are student leaders. They are pretty chill guys. A couple weeks ago we did an activity called pile of fries. This entails inviting roughly 20 middle schoolers to Mcdonalds, buying large fries and making a huge pile. Then eating and chatting. 19 large fries later, along with a huge portion of chocolate and ice cream cones and three threats to be kicked out, we went to see the new Narnia movie. I had popcorn thrown at me all through the movie (it was flying everywhere) and at the end I got all the remains of the 5 large popcorns that were purchased dumped on me. Then I spent about half an hour getting mobbed outside the movie theatre by a large group of middle school boys. It was pretty awesome. The maximum number of middle schoolers that I could take is 7, just FYI.
2. I love my job! I work with kids with behavioral disorders. I go into schools and try to keep behaviors manageable during school. Then after school they come to the "family center" where I spend an hour trying to make them angry, so that we can then work on utilizing tools to control behaviors. Long story short, I get paid to make kids angry, and then talk to them about how to control their anger (or energy levels, or focus on empathy or whatever is needed for that kid). Apparently I'm really good at it, at least that is what they keep telling me. I got told the other day that I am in charge of what happens in our after school program, which is exciting. I'm now in charge of developing lesson plans to teach social skills, and choosing which kid we focus on "elevating". They have also offered to pay for me to go back to school! It's crazy!, but I love it.
3. The friends I'm developing are awesome, awesome coworkers becoming friends, co-wyldlife leaders becoming friends, and just some random acquaintances. I'm getting an awesome support group for my life and I'm loving it.
So for the last month:
High point: being told that I'm in charge of the after school program. (it's a pretty big deal... believe me you don't know)
Low point: Stressful situations from my job. you know the show "Kids say the darnedest things" Yeah... not so funny.
